Dear Friends in Ministry,

Greetings from western North Carolina and from the Hinton Rural Life Center! I shared the following information with you previously, regarding an upcoming event at the Hinton Center. I am hoping that you might be willing to make it available, again, to those in your area.

Could you distribute the following information about Pathways Through Loss with your District churches, clergy, and laity? I have attached a PDF, included a web link, and offered a brief description. I would be most grateful for your constituents to know about this event since Hinton is a Jurisdictional mission agency.

Thank you!

The Hinton Rural Life Center is offering a retreat June 8-10 called Pathways Through Loss. Loss is both a universal and a deeply personal experience. The Pathways Through Loss retreat will be an exploration of the nature of loss, how we face it or avoid it, and some of the ways that we walk (or run) through it. It is open to anyone who is interested in thinking more deeply about loss (which we understand to be more than the experience of death) and how loss affects our lives and the lives of many around us. Please share the detailed information at the attached link with your churches, and contact Amy Spivey if you have questions. (amy@hintoncenter.org).

We are looking forward to a wonderful retreat weekend, and I hope that you or others in your area might be able to participate. Take care!

Grace and peace,

Amy Spivey

Alexian Services

Hello,

May is Signal Crest's month to provide a time of worship at the Alexian Village Healthcare Center. The service is at 3:00 on Sunday afternoons. It is very simple; a prayer, some hymns, a devotion, some more hymns and prayer time.......This is a great opportunity for a family to serve together, or for a Sunday School class to serve as well.

May 13th and May 27th are still available. If you can show up for 30-60 minutes and offer grace to these folks, please let me know.  Thank you!

Good Friday Afternoon to All,

Please help us get the word out that there will be a DBOM (Disciple Bible Outreach Ministry) training program for Holston Conference on Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 10 am to 4 pm at White Pine UMC in White Pine, TN.  The cost will be $10 and lunch will be provided.

What is DBOM?  Disciple Bible Outreach Ministry is the 32 Week Disciple 1 Bible Study taken into the prisons.  Please look at the attachments of the complete brochure.

The training program will qualify you to be a trainer in Disciple 1 Bible Study and a facilitator for this prison ministry.

This training is not only for United Methodist men and women.  Please invite anyone you know from other denominations that are interested in prison ministry.

You can register online at:  http://dbomtraining.holston.org

THANKS for being YOU!!

Blood Drive for Tina Harr 04-JAN-2012 1-6pm at St. Augustine's

Guys, I know John Harr, our St A's catcher, will be grateful for anyone who can make the effort to donate blood for his wife Tina. She once again is in need of lots of donations to continue her long fight. For you UTC fans, Tina and John's son Chris finished his UTC football career as All Southern Conference in 2010.

The bloodmobile will be at St Augustines on Wed Jan 4 from 1-6 PM if that would be convenient.

For most of you it might be better to go to a Blood Assurance location and donate a pint in Tina Harr's name at a convenient time for you in the next couple of weeks.

Please, whether or not you are a regular blood donor, consider giving a pint in Tina's name. John will be most grateful.

Bring your fruit to Church day

Please remember to bring fruit on Sunday. It is a long-standing Christmas tradition at Signal Crest to provide fresh fruit for the Christmas baskets distributed by Signal Mountain Social Services. This year baskets will be delivered to 50 families on the mountain. Please bring apples, oranges, tangerines, tangelos, pears or grapefruit to the tiled narthex on Sunday or Monday (12/5). If you prefer, you can make a donation on Sunday in the special envelope in the pew rack. We will use the money to complete the bags of fruit. Thank you. Sherry Hubbard
