Camp Lookout Still Needs Volunteers for Fallen Tree Cleanup

The following was sent by Don Wasburn, Director of Camp Lookout, on 01-MAY-2011:

Greetings to all,

Hope you are doing well.

We had a great day of work on Sat. (about 45 people - we also had 7 people show up today after church and they went to work)   We made a lot of progress, but we still have a long way to go.  Here is where we are at this time.

1)  The tree company that we hired has the trees off all the buildings, they still have work to do.
2)  We have a contractor secured to do the building repairs - he will be here tomorrow morning to get started.
3)  We have a contractor secured to repair the water lines
4)  We have another workday set-up for this coming Sat. (arrive between 9 & 10)
5)  The insurance adjuster will be on-site tomorrow
6)  Great volunteer work is making a huge difference
7)  Burt sent a team of men with chainsaws which made a big impact (they worked Fri and half a day sat)- he also sent up a small dump truck and bobcat.  The dump truck is an incredible asset. We were able to move a lot of brush to the upper field were it will be run through a chipper in the next few weeks

Thanks to everyone for their support.  Please get the word out that we are still seeking volunteers.  We will be working everyday the weather allows for outside work.  I would also ask that each of you spread the word that we will have another workday this  Sat. - May 7.  Here is what we need:

1)  Folks with chainsaws - Please bring ear and eye protection
2)  Folks to help move brush and logs - the more the better
3) Sandwich lunch (helper to put out and/or furnish the food)
4)  Another small dump truck would be a huge help on Sat.

Again, please spread the word to your church and to those you know in other churches.  It would also be great if we know of groups that are planning on attending.

Thanks again - talk with you soon (don't hesitate to call me if you have question - call my cell)

Emergency needs

Dear Signal Crest Congregation,

There are many needs in our immediate area due to yesterday's storms. Please see below.

God blesses me through you!

Annette Flynn

Trenton UMC has been designated as an emergency shelter following the devastating storms and is in need of generators as well as bottled water. Due to road conditions, we are collecting at Christ UMC and will get supplies to Reece as we are able.

Also, a large part of the homeless population had their tents destroyed yesterday. If you can help replace them, please contact Barry Kidwell at 619-8008.

Please keep all of those affected in your prayers.
