Daily Discipleship Guide for 24-JUN-2010
Sometimes, if we receive God's loving embrace fully, it means we have to become more responsible for ourselves and our journey with God.
Nouwen writes, "I cannot keep pointing to my father as an excuse for my life. I have to dare to stretch out my own hands in blessing and to receive with ultimate compassion (God's other) children, regardless of how they feel or think about me."
In telling this parable, Jesus makes it clear that the God of whom he speaks is a God of compassion who JOYOUSLY welcomes repentant sinners into his house. Since becoming the compassionate Father is the ultimate goal of the spiritual life, how are you doing at...
being like him.......
loving like him........
being generous like him..........
